Knick's biography

You might say sewing is in my blood. My great-grandmothers were Mennonites and I sleep under one of their beautiful quilts. Their sewing traditions have carried on generation after generation.

I took up the needle when I was four and began machine sewing at ten. By the time I was in junior high, I was sewing many of my clothes. By my twenties, I was making almost all of my clothes. Blue jeans and sweaters were the only exceptions, but I even mastered a few of those!

In high school and college my interests in theatre and art lead me to design and sew numerous costumes. I continued sewing for community theatre for several years after graduation. Sewing costumes gives one the luxury of working with a multitude of styles, fabrics, and body types.

Until my professional life became so demanding that I abandoned sewing, I didn't realize how difficult it was to find well-fitting clothing in ready-to-wear. Fortunately I decided to answer the siren call of my fabric stash and I'm back to designing and sewing.

I use a combination of age-old sewing techniques and modern computerized methods. I hope to offer you an experience in clothing that is professional, creative, and practical.
